"The Valle Sessera. Where nature has free rein" was created to emphasize the identity of the project, jointly financed by the European Union through the 2000-2006 Piedmont Region DOCUP, known as the Integrated Plan for the development of the Valle Sessera Area and the excellence of its natural features, its landscape, its cultural heritage and the worker traditions.
ASCOM (Biella), in partnership with ASCOM (Vercelli), is the promoter of this project; the other main partners are the Province of Biella, the Biella Chamber of Commerce, the ATL of the Biella area, the
Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella and, of course, the Valle Sessera Mountain Community.
In addition to the establishment of this website, the project has been developed by the production of a bilingual guide and by participation in international fairs linked to the cultural-religious and nature aspects
(Borsa Internazionale del Turismo Religioso di Oropa and the
Esposizione Internazionale della Bicicletta - EuroBikein Germany), with the financial operators being involved in the Educational Tour, intended as a final event.
“Valle Sessera. Where nature has free rein”, enhances the natural environment, as well as the landscape, sporting and religious aspects found in the valley, binding these features to the industrial tradition, symbolised by the wheel of the wool mill; it is presented as the first joint project in the field of tourism and represents a new outlook for the growth and harmonious development of the region, spreading its reputation well beyond the borders of the Biella area.
